Getting to Kanab

While getting to Kanab is not the easiest... we promise it will be worth it! The closest airport is St. George (1.5 hours from Kanab). However, flying into Las Vegas is also an option with a 3-hour (but beautiful!) drive. Those coming from the Salt Lake/Park City area will have a 4.5 hour drive. We appreciate you making the trip!

Where to stay

We have blocked off the entire Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile! Please email thebeauc@bestfriends.org to reserve a room (booking online will not work if you want the room block discount). You can say you are booking for Jonas and Abby's wedding, or use the block code: 46297. This is where our welcome party will be, so no need to travel on Saturday night! We will also have a shuttle from the hotel to take guests to and from the wedding. This hotel is pet-friendly and reservations directly benefit the animal sanctuary!

Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile

We also have blocked off the entire Best Friends campsite. This is a great option for those wanting the full desert experience. There are two bathrooms for guests to use, which include showers. These bathrooms are spacious and were built last year so are quite nice for a campsite! While we acknowledge this will be a better option for those within driving distance, however, there are options for RV rentals in St. George and Las Vegas! Travel & Lodging

The Sand Caves are located 5 miles north of Kanab along Highway 89, not far from the Dinosaur Tracks. We did this short hike while touring the venue - the caves are super cool, and at their deepest, it is pitch black. It’s a very short hike from the parking lot to get up to the caves, but be prepared for a little bit of scrambling to get up to the slickrock bench where the caves are located. Distance: ~1 mile out-and-backDifficulty: Very easyEstimated Hike Time: 30-45 minutes

Sand Caves

The Belly of the Dragon is quite the adventurous, scenic, little hike. The tunnel goes under Highway 89 and is used as a drainage for the upper canyons that feed into the North Fork River. Therefore, do not enter into the tunnel under any rainy conditions. There are a few spots or rock scrambling to get up and through the tunnel.&nbsp;Through the tunnel is a short hike, you may continue up the wash for about 4 miles, it ends at a beautiful little slot canyon.

Belly of the Dragon

The Tilted Mesa MTB region is about 10 miles east of Kanab on Highway 89. It offers riders a range of trail difficulty and features. Find the trail network on Trailforks or Mt Bike Project

Coral Pink Sand Dunes is one of the most unique state parks in the southwest with its shifting sea of fiery red/orange dunes framed by giant red rock and jagged mountain peaks. And the absolute&nbsp;best&nbsp;way to experience the park is by&nbsp;sandboarding or sledding&nbsp;down the dunes! Sand boards (stand-up) and sand sleds (sit-down)&nbsp;are&nbsp;available for rent at the park on a first-come, first-serve basis.&nbsp;They are great fun on the dunes, although climbing the hill again afterwards can be a bit of a chore.&nbsp;The rental fee is $25 per board and they can be rented at the Visitor Center. Rentals need to be returned 30 minutes prior to the Visitor Center closing. Visitor center hours change with the length of daylight hours, contact the Visitor Center by phone for current operating hours.

From grand tours of the entire Sanctuary to more focused visits to our animal care centers, there are plenty of opportunities to check out all there is to see, from cats and dogs who are learning how joyful life can be to birds, pigs and horses who are receiving the TLC they need to heal and grow.&nbsp;

Saturday 09.05 Welcome Party at the Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile 5pm-8pmLight apps and drinks to kick off the weekendAttire: Casual (keep in mind it gets cold after sunset!) Sunday 09.06Wedding Day at Angel's Landing- Best Friends Animal SanctuaryAttire: Desert chic (think comfort over fashion, a layer for when the sun goes down is a must). The entire venue is grass, so comfortable shoes are important!The ceremony begins at 4:30 pm, followed by dinner and dancing.Shuttles will depart from the Best Friends Roadhouse and Mercantile to take guests to the venue. (Specific times will be added soon)Shuttles will also stop at the RV site for campers. (Specific times will be added soon)There is no parking at the Sanctuary, so please plan to catch a shuttle even if you are not staying at the Roadhouse or RV site.Shuttles will pick up guests from the venue and take them to either the Roadhouse or the RV site starting at 9:00 pm.For those who don't want the party to end, there will be a silent disco afterparty at the RV Site (thanks to the noise ordinance). There may or may not be a mechanical bull.One last shuttle will depart from the RV Site for the Hotel at 1:00 am.
